Dr. Parker has been practicing since 1988 when he graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. His first two positions involved equine medicine, first in Ohio in an equine exclusive practice and then in Illinois in a mixed equine/companion animal practice. He returned to Michigan in 1991 and has since been practicing companion animal medicine, dentistry and surgery. Dr. Parker has a special interest in Animal Welfare and is currently studying to become a board-certified Animal Welfare specialist.
Dr. Parker has also spent a year mentoring new veterinary graduates in surgery and dentistry. Outside of work, he has been on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at the University of Michigan and is the chairperson of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association Animal Welfare Committee. Along the way, he earned an MBA and MA in Theology. Dr. Parker has two cats and one wife at home. He enjoys fishing, is an automobile enthusiast, plays the Scottish small pipes and is learning how to play the theremin.
